About the Therapist

Wendy Romero, MSW, LCSW, RPT | Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I’m a seasoned therapist with over 25 years of experience supporting individuals and families through life’s most challenging moments. At the heart of my work is a commitment to building safe, trusting relationships where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to explore ways to lessen their pain. I help clients navigate anxiety and depression, reduce the impact of trauma, and move toward greater emotional well-being.

Over the years, my focus has evolved to reflect both professional and personal growth. Early in my career, I worked with survivors of domestic violence and abuse, and later supported individuals and families facing chronic or life-limiting illness, caregiving stress, and end-of-life issues in hospice and medical settings. Becoming a parent deepened my interest in family systems, child development, and the parent-child bond. This led me to specialize in Play Therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), as I became increasingly passionate about helping families break cycles of intergenerational trauma and build healthier, more connected lives.

In recent years, I’ve also focused on working with neurodivergent clients, supporting them in developing self-understanding, self-acceptance, and tools for thriving in a world not always built with their needs in mind. Throughout all of my work, I remain grounded in a compassionate, client-centered approach that honors each person’s unique story.

I earned a Master of Social Work from Tulane University in 1997 and have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2000. I am fully licensed in North Carolina and Louisiana, and registered for telehealth licensing in Florida and South Carolina. Additionally, I am a Registered Play Therapist, Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed, and certified in Safe & Sound Protocol.

My therapeutic style is relational, client-centered, trauma-informed, and rooted in mindfulness and attachment theory. I draw from a range of tools based on your unique needs - but always lead with authenticity and non-judgment. Clients often describe me as down-to-earth, supportive, humorous, and a safe place to land.
